A stylus is a bit more useful for the 5-inch Galaxy Note than here, nevertheless for those who like to draw and design it could be useful. It seems a lot more accurate and responsive compared to stylus around the original Galaxy Note, which was always an extra or two behind your penstrokes. The stylus pairs well with Samsung’s S Note app, which comes pre¬installed, and Adobe’s Photoshop Touch, which doesn’t.
When drawing, the stylus can register different amounts of pressure – you'll be able to draw a thin line with light pressure, or perhaps a heavy one with additional pressure. If you need to draw with precision on your everyday tablet, for whatever reason, the Galaxy Note 10.1 is ideal.
The stylus is found in the lower-right corner as the device’s natural orientation is landscape mode, setting it besides other tablets and phones that primarily use portrait. For the average user, a stylus might not be that useful, aside from the novelty of experiencing one. The Note 10.1, however, has many other things choosing it. Its 10.1-inch LCD display has a resolution of 1280 by 800 pixels – exactly like the Galaxy Tab 10.1’s screen — and taking advantage of the Galaxy Note 10.1 with or watching video is a good experience.
Video playback is good and smooth, thanks to the Galaxy Note 10.1’s 1.4GHz quad- core processor. In fact, the device’s speed is fantastic in general, and only hampered from the limitations of Android 4.0 (although 4.0 is often a vast improvement over Google’s first tablet- optimised OS, 3.0). The device is responsive to the touch, and switching between apps was fast and simple. When we benchmarked the Note 10.1 while using freely available Android app Antutu Benchmark, it scored right available online for with Samsung’s flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S III, in terms of speed. The S III is topping the Android speed charts, so that’s beneficial at all.
Because of this speed and responsiveness, we discovered that we had no problems at all doing a little bit of light gaming about the Note 10.1. We played several games – Angry Birds, Roll inside the Hole, Imaginary Range-and do not require stuttered after only half an additional.
Unfortunately, the quad-core processor means the Note 10.1 is often a bit of the battery-suck. Speaking in the iPad 2, we compared the sound quality of the Galaxy Note to that particular of an iPad 2. We found that while the Galaxy Note 10.1 had what the editor called “laptop speaker effect” – a tinny, echoey sound – additionally, it picked up on far more detail inside music. You could hear exactly when notes changed and find which instruments were used where. In all, the audio quality was just just like the iPad 2, but in a different way.
The Galaxy Note 10.1 comes as both Wi¬Fi only and Wi-Fi + 3G models, as well as in three different memories – 16GB, 32GB, and 64GB. The model we tested would have been a Wi-Fi 16GB model.
There are a few nifty extras for the Galaxy Note that we haven’t seen a lot of before. In short, the Note 10.1 looks poorly constructed. And if the outside from the device is the fact that rough, then what’s the interior like? Given that it costs over an iPad 3, we expect the build quality to be similar, but it doesn’t even compare.
The Galaxy Note 10.1 performs exception¬ally well, and lets you multitask like no tablet ever has before – and that’s great.
We loved the multiscreen function, the brilliant screen, and also the snappy processor. If it weren’t for the poor build quality, it’d be by far the best Android tablet we’ve tested.
